What is Microblading?

Natural Microblading & Powder Brows in Seattle at Blades & Beauty

Microblading is the more permanent makeup technique taking the beauty industry by storm. Designed to give the illusion of naturally full, beautifully arched eyebrows, microblading is renowned for replicating fine like hair strokes, shaping areas, and camouflaging spots of missing eyebrow hair. Performed with a sterile-packaged handheld tool, comprised of tiny needles that come together as a very small blade, each glide over the skin’s surface depositing cosmetic pigment.

What is Powder Brows?

We think of Power Brows as the link between you and an ultra-quick morning routine. Offering a natural, subtle alternative to those who may not be a suitable for traditional microblading, this option is ideal for those who want to wake up with perfectly shaped eyebrows, without looking like they’re wearing permanent makeup and have longer lasting results.

Powder Brows is suitable for all skin types – including those with oily, thin, or sensitive skin – they are designed to create a natural, soft powder makeup look through a gentle machine shading technique. It’s what we’re known for, priding ourselves on well-defined finishes, achieved solely through a gentle layering of cosmetic pigment with a sterile, grouping of fine needles.

Which Technique is Best for Me?

Depending on your aesthetic goals, skin type, and frequency of wearing makeup, our permanent cosmetics artist will help determine whether to use either one, or a combination of these permanent makeup techniques. By calling upon intricate drawing techniques, crafted to enhance your face shape, you can choose between fine, natural, feather-like strokes or a soft natural powder effect, with results lasting from six to eighteen months – and beyond.

When it comes to our treatments, we believe that there is no ‘one size fits all’. Instead, we’re centered on personalization, from defining light eyebrows and adding definition to sparse hairs to creating naturally full, gracefully shaped eyebrows for those who simply want to fast-track their getting-ready routine. It’s who we are – safe, professional, and always focused on you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your new brows will be complete within two sessions. The first takes two to three hours, allowing us to shape and style your eyebrows in line with your goals. Four to six weeks later, you’ll return for your touch-up session, which takes anywhere from one to two hours.

In short, it’s because we’re perfectionists! As everyone heals differently and results often vary, we’ll invite you back to ensure the shade, thickness, and shape align with your goals. It’s just one of our many safety nets, ensuring you step out of our doors with brows you adore.

We’re in the business of making you feel great, not sore. While some minor discomfort is to be expected – similar to slight sunburn or tweezing two to three hairs at the same time – we’ll use a topical aesthetic throughout the treatment to numb the area.

Please note: The topical anesthetics that we use are safe, and may contain lidocaine, tetracaine, and epinephrine. Tylenol may also be used to address any discomfort. Redness and slight swelling in the area is common after the procedure.

Generally speaking, your “permanent” makeup will last from six to eighteen months, depending on your age, skin type, and lifestyle habits. It is not permanent and not like a traditional tattoo, because the pigments are implanted into the upper layers, without reaching the deeper layers of the skin.

For those wanting to go longer between touch-ups, we’d recommend meticulously following our aftercare instructions, as well as following your skincare routine closely.

Good question! We believe that all successful services are built upon a foundation of in-depth discussion, and so we’d encourage you to opt for a permanent cosmetics artist that takes the time to listen to your goals, preferences, and concerns.

Once you have identified an artist you’re pleased with, checked out their reviews, and be confident in your decision that they’re well-trained and certified, it’s crucial to communicate all you wants and needs, from shape and style to shade. After both your initial and touch-up session, all pigment discoloration and patchiness should be resolved.

And if you’re still not completely satisfied? It’s comforting to know that Microblading and Powder Brows will eventually fade away, providing routine touch-ups are not done.
