What is Microchanneling?

Microchanneling is a non-invasive treatment designed to stimulate your body’s own natural ability to generate collagen, elastin and other building blocks of healthy looking skin. By stimulating the outermost layers of the skin, Microchanneling can help your body start this process without penetrating into living tissue.

The Microchanneling experience is very similar to that of microneedling although rather than dragging small needles across the skin, the ProCell™ device uses a vertical stamping technique that gently creates thousands of microscopic channels. This helps to reduce any inflammation or trauma to the skin while increasing the precision of the treatment and, in turn, stimulates the cells beneath the skin that produce collagen and elastin. This treatment combined with potent topical serums, help penetrate products 300% deeper into the skin, offering higher concentrations to improve the appearance of scar tissue, dull-looking skin, and help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

FAQs

Microchanneling is the next generation of Microneedling.

The main difference between the two treatments is the type of device and technique used.

Microneedling involves using a handheld device covered in tiny needles that is dragged over the skin which can tear the skin. Whereas Microchanneling, uses a stamping technique to create micro-vertical channels into the skin for better and deeper product penetration & less trauma to the skin.

If you have any of the following conditions listed below,  you are not a good candidate for the Microchanneling treatment:

  • Certain skin diseases, such as eczema or psoriasis
  • Uncontrolled cardiac abnormalities
  • Pregnancy
  • Infection of any type (bacterial, viral or fungal)
  • Recent radiation therapy
  • Open wounds in the area being treated
  • Keloid scars or history of bad scarring
  • Conditions causing a compromised immune system
  • Diabetes, hemophilia, and bleeding disorders

For light anti-aging treatments, 3-6 treatments may be sufficient and for deeper wrinkles and scarring, you may require 6-9 treatments to achieve desired results. Treatments are recommended every four weeks and results are typically seen two to three weeks after receiving a treatment.

The level of discomfort is relatively minor. Some people have reported the experience to a tiny hammer on the skin. Usually a topical anesthetic is used to numb the area. Topical anesthetics are safe and may contain lidocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine.

After the treatment, your skin will be pink or red in appearance for the first 24 to 48 hours. However, this can be covered with a quality mineral makeup after 90 minutes from receiving the service.

  • Avoid washing your face for the first 6 hours. You can wash the treated area gently with a gentle cleanser and apply moisturizer thereafter.
  • After the treatment, nothing topical should be applied for at least 90 minutes.
  • Use the included ProCell™ aftercare products to ensure the skin continuously receives potent building blocks.
  • Do not exfoliate at least for 7 days.
  • Avoid direct sunlight for at least 7 days.
  • Ensure you have proper sun protection whenever you are out in the sun
  • Avoid swimming or jogging in the rain for at least 72 hours.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise for first 72 hours.
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory medication pre and post treatment.
  • Avoid makeup for at least 6 hours after the procedure unless using quality mineral makeup.
